Sparkling blue swimming pool at Hobas, just one of the facilities at Hobas NWR Restcamp.

The main attraction at Hobas is to visit the Fish River Canyon. Hobas is conveniently located just 10km from the main Fish River Canyon view point at Hellsbend.

Located inside the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park in the very south of Namibia, the Fish River Canyon is one of the largest canyons in the world. Around 160 km in length and reaching a depth in excess of 500 metres, the Fish River Canyon is one of the main tourist attractions in the south of Namibia.

Hobas is also the start of the four day Fish River Canyon Hiking trail which ends at the rejuvinating Ai- Ais hot springs.

Ranked as one of the top hiking trails in Southern Africa, the Fish River Canyon Hiking Trail takes backpackers on a journey along its river course. Hemmed in by sheer canyon walls which tower above the meandering river, the Fish River hiking trail stretches between the northern-most viewpoint overlooking the Fish River Canyon and the thermal hot springs of Ai- Ais.

Please note that the four day Fish River Hike must be booked in advance, due to high demand and the restricted number of hikers allowed into the canyon we recommend booking the Fish River hike at least one year in advance.
